PLEASE NOTE: For a few of the plants listed, we know we will only have a limited number. For most of the plants, we should have reasonable numbers, but we will only have so many ready for sale at any one time, and these can sometimes sell very quickly. IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING TO US SPECIALLY TO GET SPECIFIC PLANTS, PLEASE RING TO CHECK THAT THESE ARE AVAILABLE. We hate to see customers make wasted trips.
We generally sell our perennials in 1.5 l. pots, and our shrubs in 3 l. pots, and the prices given in this catalogue are based on these. We will sometimes also give the choice of some plants in smaller pots, at a lower price. (We often sell lavenders and catmints, for example, in this way, making their use for hedging much cheaper.) This year, for the first time, we shall be offering perennials in large (3 litre) pots. Many of our customers have requested more mature plants, and are willing to pay a higher price for them, so we shall give it a go.
We have a reasonably wide collection of ferns, which we have not listed.
We will also have various bedding plants, container plants and hedging plants in season.
The nursery is open seven days a week, from 8.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. on weekdays, and from 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. at weekends. The nursery is open throughout the year, but we ask our customers to give us a ring before coming at weekends from October to February inclusive, as there may be odd weekends during the winter when we decide to close the nursery and go away.
We take pride in always giving our customers personal attention and will always give what help and advice we can. However, if you have a planting list for us to look at, or want other detailed advice, we would suggest that you avoid coming on weekend afternoons in spring and summer, when we may be very busy and pushed to give you the time you need.
We do not do mail order.
We have a garden of about an acre and a half, which is open to visitors at all times.
Our garden features in a number of garden guidebooks, including The Good Gardens Guide (now with a star) and the BBC Gardeners World Guide, and features on it have appeared in several local and national magazines. The garden includes a walled garden, a sunken garden, a rose garden, and a pond, and most of the plants shown in this catalogue can be seen in the garden. We are continuing to develop the garden as far as time and resources allow. Since last year we have opened up a new small orchard, including a new outdoor chessboard - do come and play!
We do not charge for entry, though we do put out a charity collection box.

We are also planning a SCULPTURE WEEKEND in aid of McMillan Cancer Relief. Local sculptors will be displaying their work in the garden, and there will be other associated activities. At the time of writing, dates and details have yet to be fixed - please ring us for more information.
We are also happy to welcome groups and coaches by arrangement; tea, coffee and biscuits will be available. There will again be a collecting tin for the National Garden Scheme and St. Barnabas Hospice.
We also make a range of furniture in our workshop. We can make rose arches, gates, railings, etc., to customer's specifications. If you have any ideas for anything out of steel, we are always happy to discuss possible designs. Hall Farm Products now has its own site. Click here to reach it.
